Common Courtesy

Remember that thing? Yeah, me either. The very notion that a person would be nice to a stranger simply for the reason of being nice to a stranger is downright laughable! Yet, here I am, naively praying that a person would exhibit such a quality. However, no such concept appears to exist any longer.

I wonder when it became okay to bring a large stack of books which you do not own, to a table where you are eating and drinking, leafing through them and some magazines for which you had a passing fancy, and then proceeded to leave everything on the table, including your empty plate and drink cup. Oh how I envy the unemployed.

It falls upon me, multiple times in an evening, to clean up this and far worse messes that kind souls have managed to leave for me all around my workplace. I just wonder what goes through their mind. Probably nothing. Nobody seems to think of others anymore. But oh well, just means more work for those of us that still do care.

Dreamin' Awake

Now that I'm back in the blog-o-sphere with drops of internet in my hair hey, hey. I act like I'm cool but type like I'm lame, remind us that there's a nerd to tame hey, hey, hey. Since my return from two days off the net, I read pretty slow and type like shit hey, hey, hey. So tell me... alright I'm done. Just figured I'd toss in a little something special that isn't copyrighted in anyway at all (Don't sue me Pat Monahan). ;)

Anyways, the AP tests this week were surprisingly easy compared to last year's... did I get smarter or did the tests get dumber? I guess the teachers could be to blame for the year's unbridled success. I suppose it's also possible that I'm just feeling arrogant today because of how much I could eat at Wendy's, and come July I'll find out that I did absolutely terrible in subjects I thought I had mastered. Either way, school's all done now. There's actually about two weeks left, but yeah... like that matters.

So for the meaningful part of this, I'm kind of tossing myself now into a field that crosses cognitive science and quantum mechanics. It's recently come to my attention that a person needs to only think about performing an experiment on a quantum scale and the particles needed for that experiment actually manifest themselves and become real. That's nuts. This provides such incredible evidence for multiple universes, and I'm going off of the theory that conscious thought is a macro-manifestation of a quantum fluctuation. Which would easily explain why we can't find a way around the uncertainty principle, or put our fingers on cognitive faculties.

Either way, great stuff going on right now. Imagine if in this universe, you notice that it may rain, so you grab an umbrella but not a jacket. It's pretty warm. In another universe, the other you may have grabbed a jacket but not an umbrella. Or another may have brought a hat. Or another, more daring you may have grabbed nothing at all. Feynman's sum of histories posits that a particle takes every possible path to get to a certain point. Perhaps we do too.

Lame Physics Teachers Are Lame

I don't know if you're following my Twitter, but i just posted this link http://www.xkcd.com/451/. How long does it take someone to notice you don't know a freaking thing about what they're talking about? I can bullshit allllll day but some don't have my... piercing wit... and charm. Yes, we'll say that. Mrs. Weaver for one, seems completely incapable of performing the simple task of teaching us from the book, and is constantly engaged in providing over stimulated children with stimuli. She showed a weakness which was then abused.

Is the market for teachers really so thin that we must resort to fill the position with whomever is willing? Is it not a minimum requirement to at least have a degree in some form in the field you are teaching? This may fly at the business-level course, but not the honors. They are smart cookies, and can see through it. We students crave more from teachers.

Is it too much to ask for a person inspired and passionate about their work? If you do not care about what you do, then push a pencil for H&R Block where no one can hear you scream. Do not, under any circumstances, hinder a student's education due to your lack of knowledge and passion for your profession.

Do students deserve discipline for their rude behavior? Yes. Do teachers? Yes. However, this is not possible it seems. Nobody believes the complaining student. None of us have a voice. In the words of Alan Moore, "Who watches the watchmen?" Today we got our answer. We are alone.

Mmmm Bloggy Blog Blog-o-Sphere

I need a bigger spot than just my tweets... 140 chars doesn't cut it! I'll update there all the time and here when I can. I noticed you noticed the name of my blog. Fairly poetic, yes, but simple in nature. It is akin to turning the other cheek. When one chooses not to observe something, one closes their eyes. I'm sick of staring at the inside of my eyelids. My head is full and will begin spilling onto the internet shortly. You are not prepared!
