Common Courtesy

Remember that thing? Yeah, me either. The very notion that a person would be nice to a stranger simply for the reason of being nice to a stranger is downright laughable! Yet, here I am, naively praying that a person would exhibit such a quality. However, no such concept appears to exist any longer.

I wonder when it became okay to bring a large stack of books which you do not own, to a table where you are eating and drinking, leafing through them and some magazines for which you had a passing fancy, and then proceeded to leave everything on the table, including your empty plate and drink cup. Oh how I envy the unemployed.

It falls upon me, multiple times in an evening, to clean up this and far worse messes that kind souls have managed to leave for me all around my workplace. I just wonder what goes through their mind. Probably nothing. Nobody seems to think of others anymore. But oh well, just means more work for those of us that still do care.
